Solomon Stone 7 Comments »

Could this be... The Raddest Chapter?

In our last soul-sizzling installment, Dorian DeWolfe challenged Solomon Stone to a duel… to the death!  But what kind of duel could possibly contain the fury of the World’s Greatest Half-Vampire Private Detective Skateboard Champion and the World’s Greatest Werewolf BMX Investigator?!

The answers are in Chapter Two, where one wins… and one dies! It’s another senses-shattering 8-pager from Sims, Smith, and Krach!

And be here for the conclusion next week, featuring bonus pin-ups and maybe–just maybe–the return of Written In Stone, the Solomon Stone letter column!

Resurrection #8 Is Available Now!

Announcements No Comments »

Today, the Action Age of Comics slams into your local funnybook retailer courtesy of Oni Press and Resurrection #8, which features an eight-page backup story by Action Agers Chris Sims, Chad Bowers and Rusty Shackles!

In Resurrection, an alien force that occupied Earth has finally driven off after almost ten years of occupation, leaving the remnants of humanity with an even more pressing question than “how do we beat them”:  How do we rebuild a planet?  In this issue’s “Resurrection Tales” backup feature, Team Action Age brings you “Wolf,” the story of three boys in the small Southern town of Shawsville, Virginia who have a plan to do a little “rebuilding” of their own.  Aliens or not, one thing never changes, and that’s that teenage boys really want to get laid.

It’s Chris and Chad’s first professional, printed comic book work, and for the first time ever, the dynamic art of Rusty Shackles hits the printed page in full color!  And if that’s not a monumental enough occasion to sell you on it, our pals at ComicsAlliance have an exclusive four-page preview!  Plus, if you’re in the Columbia, South Carolina area, Chad and Chris will be signing copies live and in person at Heroes & Dragons on Bush River Road this Saturday, February 20, from 11 AM to 3 PM!

So get out there and support our pro debut, and let ‘em know that you want to make your pages Action Age’s!

Resurrection #8 from Oni Press retails for $3.99.  If your store runs out, ask them to reorder using the Diamond Order Code NOV090888.

Smell Our Feet, Action Agents!

Monster Plus 1 Comment »

HALLOWEEN_web

A couple of giant “thank you”s go out to the brilliant Dan McDaid who left this little pin-up gem in our pumpkin-shaped pail of awesome, and El Gorgo’s Tamas Jakab who was just waiting inside to color the hell out of it.

Seriously, fellas, amazing job!

And for those who’re wondering, “Hey, what gives?  Didn’t they say we’d have a new Monster Plus in October?”, we’d like to answer you with “Uh, yes… we did say that.”  However, we’ve gone executive on your asses, and decided to postpone Action Age’s most multi-faceted monster’s sophomore outing and have replaced it with something even better: a fiendishly fun evening out with your friends and family.  So worry not on our inability to deliver on promises made, Action Agents, as we encouarge you to cuddle up with your favorite boy or ghoul, and make the most of the one night outta the year where a freak can be a freak.  Except in Texas.

Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N. No Comments »

On October 10 and 11, Action Age artist Chris Piers set up at the Baltimore Comic-Con with copies of Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N. #1!

Our pal Jessi picked up her copy at the show!  If you’ve been to any of the major conventions, you might’ve seen Jessi in her amazing Black Canary and Superwoman costumes.  What’re the chances you’ll be Penny Devlin for San Diego next year, Jessi?

And here’s Caitlin Kittredge, writer of the Black London and Nocturne City novels!  Thanks for your support, Caitlin!

Hey Action Agents!  If you’ve picked up a copy of Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N., take a picture and let us know!

Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N. at SPX: The Wrap-Up!

Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N. 2 Comments »

Last weekend, Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N. #1 made its in-print debut at the Small Press Expo!  Artist Chris Piers had a few copies printed up to sell, and we’ve got pictures of how it all went down!

Hey, it’s War Rocket Ajax co-host Eugene Ahn, picking up two copies!

Indie superstar Kate Beaton got in on the A.C.T.I.O.N., sketching a quick Penny Devlin for Chris Piers…

…who got another sketch from our friends at Let’s Be Friends Again, showing WOA writer Chris Sims getting socked in the jaw!

If you stopped by SPX to pick up a copy, we at the Action Age just want to give a heart thank you!  And hey, if you’ve got a picture of the issue yourself, let us know!

If you didn’t make it to Bethesda and still want a copy of your own… well, stay tuned to this website for information on that in the very near future, Action Agents!

New Project Previews!

Announcements 6 Comments »

>PHEW<

Things have been busy around here at Actionopolis.  Not only are we working overtime, putting all the finishing touches on The Hard Ones, but we’re also elbow deep in creating a slew of new comics.

And tonight, in the grand Action Age tradition, we’re showing off artwork from several of those upcoming projects that, if you’re not careful, might just knock your socks right outta those sneakers.

First up is Carl Yonder’s amazing cover to an all new Danger Ace adventure headed your way this November, The Madness in Madrid. And let us just say, Action Agents, that you’ve never seen anything like the villains in this one.

Danger Ace_001_COVER

We teased about this before, but tonight we’ll make it offical – Impossible! is returning later this year, with story by ”Mad” Chad Bowers, covers by Chris “The Guy” Nye, and stunning interiors by one of our newest AA recruits, Adrian Rodriguez.  Here’s page 3 where a guy in a jet-pack gets punched in the face.

And, oh why not?  Let’s make one more announcement.

Coming in Q1, 2010 — BIG ‘UN.

49039590

A southern-flavored Kaiju romp by Chad Bowers and artist Fred Guillen!

Now, some might say, “Guys, with The Hard Ones, Solomon Stone, Monster Plus, Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N., Impossible! and Danger Ace, there’s only so much awesome one medium can stand!”  Well, to you, sirs and madams, we ask “Haven’t you been listening?

This is the Action Age of Comics… and we’re just getting started!
