Dan McDaid Gets Stoned!

Announcements, Solomon Stone 4 Comments »

Solomon Stoned, that is!

That’s right, the Jersey Gods artist and Doctor Who comic strip writer has lent his pen to the Action Age for the pinup in the upcoming Chronicles of Solomon Stone story, slated to start on the Action Age in a mere two weeks! And what’s more, it’ll be colored by none other than El Gorgo artist Tamas Jakab!

We here at the Action Age are all huge fans of McDaid and Jakab, and we’re pleased as a punch to the face that they’re going to be contributing to what will surely be the greatest comic book in the history of publishing.  We’ve had the finished pin-up here at Actionopolis for a few weeks now, and it just gets more and more awesome every time we look at it.

And if you like the sketches we’ve put up here, keep this in mind:  These were what Dan rejected in favor of an even better pinup!

If you’re not familiar with Dan McDaid, check out his site, his conversations with Action Age Letterer Benjamin Birdie, or swing by your local comic shop and ask for Jersey Gods!  And for more on Tamas Jakab, check out the Friends of the Action Age at ElGorgo.com!

The Action Age Leaves No Stone Unturned!

Announcements, Solomon Stone 5 Comments »

Hold onto your hat, because we’re proud to announce the next Instant Classic of the Action Age of Comics:  The Chronicles of Solomon Stone!

That’s right:  The Action Age has acquired the license to Christopher J. Sims’s epic modern fantasy series, and now the team that brought you Exterminape and Boxcar Dragon: Hobo Ninja has reunited for an all-new story of the world’s greatest half-vampire private detective!

“I’m absolutely stoked to be working with the Action Age,” said writer/creator Christopher J. Sims, whose two-fisted tales of supernatural mysteries could, if ever actually published, potentially outsell the Harry Potter and Twlight series combined.  “I’ve always wanted to bring new stories of Solomon, Minxy Flatbush, and the rest of the gang to the comics page, and while there’s been an incredible amount of interest from certain marvelous publishers, distinguished competitors, and… dark.. horses, I think I’ve found the perfect home for the series here at AAC.”

Art for the series will be handled by Action Age mainstay Matthew Allen Smith, who couldn’t be more excited about the project.  “Look, I really shouldn’t even be talking to you right now,” said the English Dynamo on a rare break.  “Sims said he was going to build his fortune on my tears, and when he finds out I’m not drawing, he… says things.”

The Chronicles of Solomon Stone will be a full-length original story featuring lettering by Benjamin Birdie, told in three eight-page chapters, and coming soon to ActionAgeComics.com!
