We’ve been promising you that 2009 would be the Year of the Action Age, and with Solomon Stone, Monster Plus, and a few yet-to-be-revealed projects on the horizon, we’re right on target to make that happen! But still, some of you–especially those of you who caught us last year at HeroesCon–might be wondering whatever happened to our original flagship title.
Well, without getting into the gory details, we’ll admit that it’s been a while. But don’t worry, Action Agers, because now… The Boys Are Back!

The Action Age is proud to announce that pinup sensation Rusty Shackles is the new artist of the next great hard-drivin’, hell-raisin’, ass-kickin’ adventure comic!
Yesterday, they were bounty hunters specializing in supervillain jailbreaks. Today, they’re the newest recruits of W.E.I.R.D., a cash-strapped government agency that has them under contract as affordable–and expendable–freelance “recovery agents!” They’re Pete Willis and Judah Mitchell, and if you want muscle cars, martial arts and mayhem, then you need… The Hard Ones!
It’s by Chad Bowers, Chris Sims, and Rusty Shackles, and it’s coming soon to the Action Age of Comics!

Guess who just got back today?
Those wild-eyed boys that had been away
Havent changed, havent much to say
But man, I still think those cats are great
They were asking if you were around
How you was, where you could be found
I told them you were living downtown
Driving all the old men crazy
The boys are back in town
You know the chick that used to dance a lot
Every night shed be on the floor shaking what shed got
Man when I tell you she was cool, she was red hot
I mean she was steaming
That night over at johnnys place
Well this chick got up and she slapped johnnys face
Man we just fell about the place
If that chick dont want to know, forget her
Friday night theyll be dressed to kill
Down at dinos bar and grill
The drink will flow and blood will spill
If the boys want to fight, youd better let them
That jukebox in the corner blasting out my favorite song
The nights are getting warmer, it wont be long
It wont be long till summer comes
Now that the boys are here again
The boys are back in town

[...] It is implied that Lee and Presley faked their deaths to find peace and spiritual renewal under the tutelage of the boy’s late father, the original Rahfi. They serve their debt by acting as the Race Bannons to Ali’s Jonny Quest. Dixon crafted a remarkably simple and pleasurable high concept storyline that begs to be explored further. (I’d love to see the further adventures of Bruce Lee and Elvis Presley as bodyguards for hire, traveling the world and kicking ass under the watchful eye of an unseen handler who is eventually revealed to be Tupac Shakur. Since I don’t think that’s likely to happen, the closest you’ll probably ever come to that sort of action is this.) [...]
