On October 10 and 11, Action Age artist Chris Piers set up at the Baltimore Comic-Con with copies of Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N. #1!
Our pal Jessi picked up her copy at the show! If you’ve been to any of the major conventions, you might’ve seen Jessi in her amazing Black Canary and Superwoman costumes. What’re the chances you’ll be Penny Devlin for San Diego next year, Jessi?
And here’s Caitlin Kittredge, writer of the Black London and Nocturne City novels! Thanks for your support, Caitlin!
Hey Action Agents! If you’ve picked up a copy of Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N., take a picture and let us know!
If you’re at the Small Press Expo in Bethesda, MD this weekend, we’ve got some good news! Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N. artist Chris Piers is set up there, and not only does he have copies of his all new crime anthology, Spoils of Crime, he’s got a limited number of print copies of Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N. #1!
That’s right, folks: it’s the very first Action Age print comic, and for the low price of $4, you can own it this weekend!
Peerless Piers is set up with the DC Conspiracy in Section F of the convention, and if you need a map, he’s handily posted one right here.
So if you’re there (or if you’re in the DC/Bethesda area and looking for something awesome to do this weekend), find him and support the Action Age!
The third and final chapter of Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N. #1 is now available, right here at the Action Age! If you’re new to the story, click here to start at the beginning, or jump right to chapter 3 for the explosive climax from Chris Sims, Chris Piers and Steve Downer!
And don’t forget to stick around after the story for our letters page, Calls to A.C.T.I.O.N., and a couple of amazing pin-ups! In addition to the one above (from Swingin’ Steve Downer himself), we’ve got a piece from the phenomenal Kate Holden–who, as a genuine English girl herself, was a big help in checking dialogue for WOA–and a second from the Action Age’s own Rusty Shackles, whose art on the The Hard Ones will soon be thrilling Action Agents like never before!
And you don’t have to just read it online: We’ve got a .cbz file ready to download right now!
Thanks guys, and thanks to you for reading! If you’ve liked what you’ve read, head back here and give us a shout! And don’t worry: Penny Devlin will return in Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N. #2–coming soon to the Action Age of Comics!
The second senses-shattering chapter of Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N. is now available to read! Just click the image above to read the next seven pages of spy-fi adventure from Chris Sims, Chris Piers and Steve Downer!
Of course, if the image above doesn’t look like one of Piers’s Peerless Pages, that’s because it’s a pin-up by our good friend Mitz, of the webcomic Plan B! It’s been getting a lot of great buzz lately, and with good reason! So once you’ve thrilled to our second installment, head over to GoonPatrol.com to see why! And who knows? This might not be the last time you see Mitz here at the Action Age!
So enjoy Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N. Chapter 2, and be here next Wednesday for the cataclysmic climax of our story, plus amazing pin-ups by the Action Age’s own Rusty Shackles, the lovely and talented Kate Holden, and a special bonus pin-up by WOA colorist “Swingin’” Steve Downer! All that and a letters page, plus downloadable versions of the entire story, right here in the Action Age of Comics!
The wait is over! Click the image above to get started with the first chapter of Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N.: Suspended, an all-new Action Age Adventure by Chris Sims, Chris Piers, and Steve Downer!
In the first chapter, meet Penelope Devlin, one of the top agents of the Advanced Counter-Terrorist Intelligence and Operations Network! Yesterday, she saved the world. Now she’s got to deal with the consequences, and if idle hands are the Devil’s workshop, then an idle super-spy is in for a world of trouble!

And be back next Wednesday for Chapter 2, followed on August 12 for the conclusion, featuring pin-ups, a letters page, and of course, all-out adventure in the Adequately Affable Action Age Style!
Look alive, Action Agents! The Countdown starts now!
That’s right: we’re one week away from the debut of the next Instant Classic of the Action Age of Comics: Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N.!
Written by Chris Sims with art and lettering by “Peerless” Chris Piers and the dynamic color of “Swingin’” Steve Downer, Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N. is a full-length pop-spy adventure that’ll be serialized in three thrill-packed chapters every Wednesday! Plus, the third installment will include a letters page and two amazing pin-ups that you’ll have to see to believe!
So tell your friends that if they’re not already in on the greatest thing to hit comics since gorillas on covers, they need to be right here on Wednesday, July 28 for Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N. #1!
We took the last week off here at Actionopolis to recover from getting Danger Ace #0 ready for Free Comic Book Day, but now we’re back with a look at the concept sketches behind Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N., the upcoming hit from Chris Sims and Chris Piers!
This is one of Piers’s first concept sketches for Penny Devlin, the titular Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N.! Initially, Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N. was set to be drawn as a manga-style adventure by the UK’s own Kate Holden (of Batman-With-Nunchuks-Made-Of-Sharks fame), but when a scheduling conflict arose, Piers came in to take over! With Penny, both artists tried to capture the ’60s-style pop-spy aspect of her character–hence the Emma Peel-style belt!
As for the player on the other side…
…meet Dr. von Killswitch, Agent of D.E.A.T.H.!
As one of the top scientists of A.C.T.I.O.N.’s opposite number, the brilliant and criminally insane Dr. von Killswitch has crossed Penny’s path a few times in the past… and he’s out to make sure this time is the last!
But really, all that matters is that he’s awesome enough to have wrist-rockets and a monocle.
Heck, he’s even got his own henchmen!
The Agents of D.E.A.T.H. might just look like faceless servants of a terrorist organization, but they’re actually… well, that’s pretty much exactly what they are. But there’s a lot of ‘em, and at least one wants more from Penny than just her name, rank and serial number!
As for the identity of the guy in the bowler hat peeking on the right of the picture, well, we’ve gotta save some surprises, right? So keep your eyes peeled for Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N., Coming Soon to the Action Age of Comics!
Tonight, we’re proud to announce the next Instant Classic of the Action Age of Comics!
Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N.!
As one of the highly trained agents of the Advanced Counter-Terrorist Intelligence Operations Network, Penny Devlin might just be the world’s best line of defense against renegade techno-villains bent on world domination. Or at least, she would be, if she could just stop blowing things up. Plagued by the worst luck in the spy game and struggling in the shadow of a brother whose career is marked by a string of effortless successes, she’s had a pretty rough time… but it’s never been as bad as this!
Now, in the wake of a scandal involving the destruction of a national landmark, she’s found herself on an enforced vacation with nothing to worry about… except the other side’s latest maniacal scheme.
It’s a thrill-a-minute pop-spy adventure as you like it, because when it all comes crashing down, the world needs a Woman of A.C.T.I.O.N.!
